Are wood floors a good investment?

JEAN: With so many flooring choices available, everyone can express their own sense of aesthetics. The reason why wood floors make a good investment as a type of material is their versatility. They allow you, or the next owner, to sand them down and restain or refinish them. Obviously, you could pull up an existing carpet and start over again, or you could re-tile, but wood floors allow you the capability of refinishing the same wood surface which makes them a very attractive option. When I’m asked the best way to transform a space on a budget, my answer is to redo the floors. This can change every square foot of your home, with one renovation.
