Renovate My Kitchen In Crown HeightsPosted by Margaret G. in Crown Heights
We would like to renovate our kitchen to look more modern and brighter, and get more counter space. We love cooking and entertaining, and want a space that is functional and inviting.
We would also like to turn the room next to the kitchen into a second bedroom, by putting up a wall, replacing the tiled floor with wood, and possibly pushing one existing wall out a few feet, to create a bigger space.
Design and Build
Functional but...; A little worn; Not my style
Scope of work
1. Knock out a portion of the wall next to the kitchen
2. Replace the cabinets, counters, and backsplash
3. Install a dishwasher (this may require installing an additional circuit)
4. Replace the tile flooring (possibly with new tile?)
DINING ROOM/SECOND BEDROOM:
1. Put in a wall with a door
2. Replace the tile flooring with wood
3. Possibly take down a wall and put in a new one several feet farther out to expand the size of the room slightly
4. Maybe put in a closet
Eric is a wonderful guy and it was a pleasure working with him. He addressed all of our concerns promptly and resolved any problems that came up with minimal oversight -- and as with any renovation, there were a few! He has a great can-do, problem solving attitude, and I would recommend him wholeheartedly. He is a great guy and my husband and I trust him completely, so much that we have hired him to do a few additional post-renovation projects around the house. Every friend that we have talked to has had their renovations run significantly overtime and overbudget. While ours ran overtime by several weeks, it did not go overbudget, which is unheard of in NYC.
Eric was great about addressing any issues that came up, and without increasing the price at all.
We were renovating with a new baby and Eric was extremely respectful and considerate of our situation. He was extra careful to clean up all the dust. He also managed our grumpy super perfectly, so much that our super stopped me the other day to compliment me on how well Eric had done his work.
