Daniels Kitchen RenovationPosted by Steven T. in Upper East Side
We are renovating our existing closed kitchen which is the original kitchen into a more modern kitchen - replacing all appliances and cabinets. We are blowing out a wall to create a more open island kitchen and replacing the floor to new tile.
Existing kitchen is the original kitchen from the 60's. Old gas appliances, dishwasher, original cabinets and sink. It is a closed kitchen, about 90 square feet, in an 'L' shaped configuration with two doors at either end. The floor is linoleum tiles and the counter is particle board with vinyl topping.
Scope of work
I am a designer, and have already designed the renovation, and have a full set of drawings. We are going to be expanding the kitchen from 90 square feet to about 120 square feet, and replacing all the cabinets and appliances. We are going to demolish the wall closing the kitchen in order to have an open kitchen with an island. This will require the relocation of the electric panel. All appliances will be replaced with higher end gas appliances - 36" gas range, built in 36" built in fridge, new dishwasher, building in microwave. The cabinets will be white lacquer or paint, walls will be white subway tile, and the floor will be 12x24 grey ceramic tile. Counters will be Caesarstone or equivalent
Kris’s experience in this kind of work was invaluable throughout the process, and when minor hiccups occurred – as they invariably do in these types of projects – his creativity and expertise always led to innovative solutions. The end result is a really fantastic change from the original apartment.
