Tiny Studio Apartment In Sunset Park In Need Of Tlc! ( Scope Flexible)Posted by Joshua R. in Sunset Park
I’ll be closing in a week on my first home purchase in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. It’s a 190sq ft studio with lots of light, pre-war looking wall moldings, very very bare kitchenette, no storage except a tiny tiny closet and a very hideous bathroom. I want to update it with a classy modern art-deco theme.

Scope of work
I want to create a elevated platform that seperates the kitchenette and living space. Underneath this platform would be a roll-out bed that can be used as a sofa in the daytime. Above the platform, I want a peninsula table with stools so after cooking i can sit and eat right when i turn around.
Kitchenette needs cabinets, sink, counter and energy saving appliances. It currently does not have any of these. In addition, i would require wall storage to be installed in the form of closets. Also, lightning fixtures and outlets need to be installed.
The bathroom needs to replace sink and toilet. I Tiles need to be stripped off both wall and floor. In the very tiny shower stall I want a vanity mirror to be installed from ground up. I want a vanity mirror facing the bathroom entrance as well..
Honest to goodness, Matt is the most pleasant contractor I've ever met. Working with him has changed my view towards people in construction for the better. This guy cares about his clients as much as he cares about his craft. His professionalism and outstanding track record were what got me to sign my contract, but his strong communication, disarming honesty, thoughtful insights on aesthetics, and extreme patience with me were the reasons that made me feel valued as a client. From day one, I was comfortable because he made it a point to inform me of everything that was going on. I would contact him day and night, weekday and weekend, and he would answer as soon as possible. When a problem would arise outside our contract's scope of work, he would suggest the best options and calmly guide me in making the most cost-effective choice. I never felt like I was pushed to do anything I didn't agree with. If anything, he even offered to do things out of his own pocket, one of many for example, like painting the whole place when I couldn't afford to include it in my budget. He truly went above and beyond my expectations when he helped me in short notice with a moving job that I couldn't have convinced anyone to do for me. Three days after Christmas, with almost everyone still on holiday, he and his crew bared with me for 7 hours from 5 pm to 1 am, to transport a ceiling to floor high custom murphy bed with matching cabinets I got off of craigslist in a 4th floor East Village apartment, to a storage unit in Park Slope. They went out of their way, didn't quit in finishing the job despite their exhaustion and the fact that they all had to be at another job site at 7 am that same morning. I swear, Matt and his exceptional crew give one of a kind customer care. They really do give justice to the saying, "New Yorkers do better than everyone else."
