Renovate My KitchenPosted by Amber B. in Flatbush
We are looking to convert an eat-in kitchen to a child's bedroom, and renovate our kitchen, opening it up to our living room. This would involve building on wall, cutting a door into another wall, and updating kitchen floor/cabinets/appliances.
Design and Build
Blah generic renovation done 8-10 years ago by co-op sponsor.
Scope of work
We would like our kitchen and living room to feel more integrated and for them both to feel more open.
Kent and Nick were with us through every step of a long and (to us, anyway!) complicated project. From the moment they came up with a novel solution to maximizing our space, to submitting plans and dealing directly with our building's engineer/board/management company, helping expedite our permits, and overseeing the construction process, they were continually available to us and guided the project through every stage. Their thoughtfulness regarding all levels of the design they executed has left us with a space that is truly remarkable.
Our first attempt at financing fell through which set us back several months, but Kent remained patient while we ultimately sorted it out. My wife became pregnant with our second child during the planning stage of the project and we ultimately had the baby right around the time of its completion- they understood our need to have the work done in time to have the baby and did everything they could to push the process along. We decided to do a full gut renovation of our bathroom as well after our kitchen project had begun, and Kent jumped right in to deal directly with our building engineer to get the approvals needed without derailing our timeline. We have a very excitable coop board and Kent was in constant communication with our contractor about resolving any issues.
They listened to what we wanted and respected our budget. They brought two very good contractors in to bid on the job, and pushed to make sure that all details of the plan were executed properly.
