Winchester_Mystery_House_San_Jose_CA_003These were the words that Sarah Winchester apparently heard from her dead husband, which drove her to start the construction and remodeling of her house that lasted 38 years, continuous until her death. Now while this is an extreme case of the remodeling bug, it does feel that once you start it’s easy to get completely addicted.

Here’s the break down of her house: 160 rooms, 40 bedrooms, 2 ball rooms, 17 chimneys, 10,000 window panes, 47 fireplaces and it took 20, 500 gallons to paint the exterior!!

At one point it grew to seven stories high, but an earthquake caused considerable damage and it now stands at four stories. If you’re in San Jose, it’s worth an afternoon trip. https://www.winchestermysteryhouse.com/
