Michael S. Owner

I am a NY State Registered Architect and a LEED Accredited Professional. I graduated from Cooper Union School of Architecture, where I received multi-disciplinary and investigation focused education. My work ranges from highly detailed residential and commercial interiors to academic housing to large scale luxury condominium and low income multifamily highrise new construction. What unites the varied work is inventive detailing, a playful interplay of form and color, and a focus on beauty, usability and sustainability that is grounded in a clear and realistic reading of client program, budget, schedule, and site to ensure their goals are met.

I had the pleasure of working with Michael in a couple of projects. Both projects were in Brooklyn NY, one was a gut renovation and the other was a bathroom reno. In the gut renovation, we had to relocate the kitchen to a different floor and built a new bathroom with a standing shower. Everything else was pretty straight forward. Michael is a very professional architect; he is always on point and knows exactly what he is doing. Everything went on as planned and everyone was very pleased with the outcome, most of all the costumer. Any minor changes that we might have encountered were promptly addressed by Michael. The second job was yet another project where he showed extreme professionalism and everything went on as planned, Both projects were finished well ahead of schedule, leaving all parties involved extremely satisfied. I would definitely recommend him to any future projects that my company and I will take on. Read Elvis's review

Michael has worked on two projects for me - the first was a renovation of two floors of my brownstone that entailed a new kitchen, two bathrooms and creation of an office/guest bedroom. The second was a renovation of a tenant's apartment - new kitchen, new bathroom, new lighting and closet makeover. For the tenant's apartment, Michael designed the kitchen with upscale touches, i.e. a granite counter and included a washer/dryer. He incorporated a design element in the wall till that really popped. I was able to increase the rent $700 and the apartment rented within 2 hours at an openhouse showing. He uses space intelligently and creatively. He works within a budget with no surprises. I think he makes design that really gives a lot of bang for the buck. Obviously, he can achieve fabulous, design on a more generous budget but I feel I really got my money's worth with Michael's design and purchasing advice. When you open up walls and floors in an old brownstone, there are bound to be surprises. Michael is very good at dealing with unforseen problems and solving them. A particular example: I wanted a shower in a tiny bathroom, that should probably be just a powder room. He suggested a "European" shower (unenclosed) and figured out how to slant the floor and cut and lay the floor tile in such a way to facilitate drainage. I was impressed. Read Stephanie's review
